When the Multicultural Audience Development Initiative was formed ten years ago, its goal was to focus on how the Met could better engage and serve the diverse communities within our city. From exhibitions and educational programs to concerts and construction projects, the Metropolitan is forever striving to enrich visitors' experiences and to create lasting memories of our Museum. Being accessible to many different audiences is in step with the Museum's mission and standards of excellence and is essential to remaining the preeminent cultural institution in New York.
This initiative is significant because it recognizes a commitment on behalf of the Museum, its Trustees, and local leadership to engage the entire New York City community as well as our visitors from around the world. Thanks to this initiative, we are able to relate the cultural vibrancy of the people who come through our doors with the art that hangs on our walls, the concerts and lectures in our auditorium, the programs in our New Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, and countless other events.
This year we celebrate ten years of MADI's well-rounded and energetic approach to strengthening the relationships between the Museum and all of its visitors. By taking an all-encompassing view of our demographics, we strengthen our role as a leader on New York's cultural scene and make deeper connections to every visitor. The past ten years have provided a foundation for the upcoming exciting initiatives like the Mentoring Program and College Group at the Met. For the future, MADI will continue to work with organizational leaders, educators, performers, and artists to cement the mutually beneficial relationship between the Museum and the city into a lasting bond.
We are proud to remain committed to providing the most enriching experience of art and culture for every visitor who enters our doors.
