Maya Valladares, Education Assistant

Revolutionize your wardrobe and learn how to print on fabric in this artist-led workshop inspired by the fashions in the exhibition PUNK: Chaos to Couture.* Explore resonances among twentieth-century counterculture art movements, from Dada and Surrealism to punk styles, during gallery conversations. Gather ideas from works in the Met's collection, then appropriate, deconstruct, and reconstruct your sketches, learning to transform them into stencils and screens for printing on fabric. Walk away with a customized piece of fabric that defies the norm.

*A gallery conversation and special viewing of PUNK: Chaos to Couture will be offered to workshop participants at 9:30 a.m. on July 27.

This two-session workshop (July 20 and 27) meets in the Met's galleries and studios. All levels welcome. Space is limited. Purchase tickets below or at the Great Hall box office. Registration ends at noon on the Tuesday before the first day of the course. For more information, email studioprograms@metmuseum.org or call 212-570-3961.
