Bartók Quartet Cycle: (Calder Quartet): 3 and 4

David Longstreth and Calder Quartet

David Longstreth joins the Calder Quartet for performances of Bartók Quartets 3 and 4 as well as his newly arranged compositions.

David Longstreth   leader of the Brooklyn-based rock band Dirty Projectors, is   best known for a unique harmonic approach and melodic sensibility, often employing wide intervallic leaps and strong syncopation. Longstreth has written and produced several of the last decade's most critically  acclaimed records, including Rise Above (2007), Bitte Orca (2009) and Swing Lo Magellan (2012). He has collaborated with Solange, Diplo, Björk, and David Byrne, among others. Longstreth also writes scored work, including commissions for Calder Quartet, Alarm Will Sound, Bang On A Can, yMusic, and the Orchestral Society for the Preservation of the Orchestra. In 2012, he wrote and directed the short film Hi Custodian. A visual artist and designer, he received a Grammy nomination for his design concept for Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan LP. Longstreth lives and works in Brooklyn and Hudson, NY.

Under 30 $1 tickets for kids (ages 7–16) are available for this concert. Children must be accompanied by an adult purchasing a full-price ticket (maximum three children's tickets per paying adult).
