Arts and Dances of Oceania and Native North America: Illustrated Talks and Performances

On January 12, 2008, the Multicultural Audience Development Initiative hosted "Arts and Dances of Oceania and Native North America: Illustrated Talks and Performances." The event featured illustrated talks by Museum Educator Amy Silva and Associate Curator Eric Kjellgren on the arts of Native North America and Oceania, respectively. Traditional performances—the Native American "fancy shawl," a contemporary social dance with indigenous roots; ritual dances and music from the T'boli people of the Southern Philippines; and hulas from Hawaii—by dancers and musicians from Lotus Music and Dance accompanied the talks.
