I Sit Where I Want: A Conversation on Social Justice

The Multicultural Audience Development Initiative marked Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a screening of the groundbreaking documentary I Sit Where I Want: The Legacy of Brown v. Board of Education on January 26, 2008, in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. The screening, which was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Marcus Mabry, international business editor at The New York Times, was organized in collaboration with The New York Times Department of Community Affairs.

Panelists included Tonya Lewis Lee, the documentary's executive producer; Whitney Dow, the film's director and co-founder of Two Tone Productions; Contractual Educator Randy Williams; and student intern Lindsey Berfond, who spoke to visitors about works from the Museum's collections with a focus on the theme of social justice.
