"Shakespeare around the World" Panel Discussion with Ink Art: Past as Present in Contemporary China

With the help of Multicultural Audience Development Initiative Committee Member Hugh Hysell and New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, MADI hosted a panel discussion, "Shakespeare around the World," on March 4, 2014. The lecture consisted of an introduction to the exhibition Ink Art: Past as Present in Contemporary China, a discussion of Shakespeare's universality and omnipresence in contemporary culture, and a National Theatre of China production of Richard III at the second annual Visions + Voices Global Performance Series at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The designer for the character graphics used in the NYU production was Xu Bing, an artist also represented in Ink Art.
