Venture abroad with the Metropolitan Museum's own lecturers and other art lovers to gain new insights and fresh perspectives on art and culture. More than just a vacation, a Travel with the Met international exploration combines curatorial expertise and behind-the-scenes viewing arrangements with spectacular itineraries and interesting companionship.

July 29–August 11, 2010
Families are invited to an adventure aboard the M.S. Volga Dream. Spend three days touring galleries and museums in Moscow, then cruise along the Russian countryside, visiting historic cities. Dock in Saint Petersburg for three nights during the White Nights Festival.

Our program begins in Lima, home to fine baroque and Renaissance architecture as well as impressive pre-Columbian and Peruvian folk art collections. Travel into the Sacred Valley to the town of Pisac and the Inca fortress at Ollantaytambo. Then enjoy an exciting train journey along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the iconic symbol of Peru, before concluding in Cusco. Optional Amazon postlude.

In Turin, view Baroque churches and first-rate museums with dazzling decorative arts collections and incredible paintings. From there, journey to charming Stresa for a cruise on Lake Maggiore before arriving at the luxurious Villa d'Este, a sixteenth-century princely residence in the village of Cernobbio. During a three-night stay in the Lake Como area, visit sumptuous villas with impressive collections of paintings and objects, all the while enjoying famously beautiful landscapes. During a day's excursion to Milan, visit the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie to see Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper as well as masterpieces at the Brera Academy and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum.
