The Museum welcomes groups of all abilities. Appointments are required for all groups visiting the Museum. Call 212-879-5500, ext. 3561 (TTY: 212-570-3828), or email
access@metmuseum.org to request an appointment.
- All of the public galleries are accessible to wheelchair users;
wheelchairs are available free of charge without reservations at coat-check areas.
- Assistive listening devices (headsets and neck loops) are available
for Museum tours and programs. For more information, see Assistive Listening Devices. These devices can be obtained free of charge from
the Audio Guide desk in the Great Hall.
- Guided tours with touch and verbal description are available by
appointment to groups, including visitors who are blind or partially sighted.
- With advance notice, a Sign Language interpreter may be requested
for any staff-guided or offsite program.
- Offsite programs are offered at sites within the five boroughs of
New York City and include a follow-up tour at the Museum.

The Cloisters
Please note that because of its landmark status,
The Cloisters has somewhat limited accessibility for visitors with mobility
impairments.
Audio Guide

Audio Guide programming for many
special exhibitions and the permanent collections are available in the Great Hall
and exhibition galleries. Audio Guide players are equipped with volume control and
are available with headsets or neck loops for hearing aids with T-switches. Transcripts
are available in standard and large print. Fees are waived for groups with individuals
who are hard of hearing, deaf, blind, or partially sighted. See
