    Struth's photographs of city streets continue a tradition of urban architectural photography that began with the systematic documentation of Paris by Charles Marville and Eugène Atget. Like his predecessors, Struth is interested in establishing a distinctive sense of place as well as documenting the historical transformations that affect the urban landscape.
