Apraxine, Pierre. Photographs from the Collection of the Gilman Paper Company. Reeds Springs, Mo.: White Oak Press, 1985. pl. 169.
Provenance information was provided by Gerd Sander, August's grandson; plate note from Pierre Apraxine, Photographs from the collection of the Gilman Paper Company (1985): "...Large-scale prints are rare in Sander's work. According to his grandson, Gerd Sander, the photographer may have created this work as early as 1913 and presented this print to his older brother Carl in 1938, who in turn gave it to Sander's daughter, Sigrid, about twenty years later." Print date listed in this publication, however, is "before 1929" - perhaps based on the medium or photographic paper used.
