From Kertész (02/24/82): "this is the entrance to a commercial artist's home (he designed catalogues). Lucien Vogel, the publisher of VU magazine, in looking through Kertész's photographs, put his little symbol on lower left corner to indicate his preference for certain photographs such as this one. He may have used it in one of the issues of VU."
