Excavated 1876 in Shaft Grave IV, Grave Circle A, Mycenae. This replica is a restored version of the original, which was damaged during its long deposition in the earth. Gillieron made a mold directly from the original and then straightened the stem and smoothed the corroded surface in an attempt to capture the original splendour of this large ritual vessel. Three inlaid gilt altars decked with flowers decorate the band on the upper body. The original is in the National Archaeological Museum, Athens.
