The Pines Whisper

George Seeley American

Not on view

Eschewing professional models, most Photo-Secession photographers preferred working with family and close friends who were sympathetic to their aesthetic aims. In The Pines Whisper, Seeley’s youngest sister, Laura, and a friend pose in a loosely draped dark cloth that protects their embrace and, rendered in soft focus so as to meld with the hazy landscape, conveys a bond of sympathy between man and nature.
