The two volumes of this book contain a wide array of textile patterns inspired by works in the Rinpa style. They were intended as sample books for Kyoto kimono manufacturers, and for delectation by anyone interested in the latest fashion trends, even revival styles. The great modern literati painter and calligrapher Tomioka Tessai frequently supplied prefatory calligraphy for albums published by the Unsôdô company, demonstrating that the publisher catered to a discerning clientele.
