Disks composed of concentric circles decorated buildings and furniture used by all communities at the Abbasid capital Samarra and subsequently in Egypt during the reign of Ibn Tulun (r. 864–84). This panel is said to be from the coffin of one of two Christian bishops, Athanasios or Ignatios, who were buried together near Takrit.
