Detail of Princesse Albert de Broglie, née Joséphine-Eléonore-Marie-Pauline de Galard de Brassac de Béarn
The princess is depicted in an uncluttered room with pale gray paneling. A blue-buttoned banquette, or borne, stands unobtrusively against the wall behind a gold damask armchair displaying her accoutrements: a mother-of-pearl and enamel fan, white gloves, a white shawl embroidered with gold thread, and a satin-lined black velvet cape trimmed with feathers, fringe, and jet beads.
