Granet won at least fifteen commissions for repetitions of this composition: a monastic ceremony in the choir of the Roman church of Santa Maria della Concezione. This painting, probably the first iteration, may have been bought directly from Granet by Caroline Murat, Napoleon's sister and the former queen of Naples. Back
