Related Work

For this work Kiefer chose a photograph made from exposed film deliberately left too long in the fixative bath during development, which partly destroyed the emulsion and produced streaks on the film. He aligned one of those streaks with the bottom point of his lead cloud to create a kind of lightning bolt that links sky and landscape.
