The Met's collection of Islamic art reflects the diversity and range of Islamic culture. Outstanding holdings
include the collections of glass and metalwork from Egypt, Syria, and Mesopotamia, royal miniatures from
the courts of Persia and Mughal India, and classical carpets from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Note: Because of construction of the new Roman galleries, Islamic art will be temporarily
relocated to the Great Hall Balcony.
