The Adoration of the Magi
Austrian (Ebreichsdorf), ca. 1390
Pot-metal and colorless glass with silver and vitreous paint
Provenance: castle chapel, Ebreichsdorf
The Cloisters Collection, 1986 (1986.285.1, .2, .10, .11)

Seven scenes from the life of Christ, each with a fanciful architectural canopy, have been installed in the windows of the Gothic Chapel at The Cloisters. The four panels shown here come from the ensemble, which is itself part of a larger series formerly in the private chapel in the castle of Ebreichsdorf, south of Vienna.
