The shape of this vase, roughly cylindrical with a bulbous midsection, is reminiscent of Chinese wares. Tiffany called its unusual glaze a "delicate color reaction." The hard, almost porcelaneous surface is speckled with deep flambé red, black, and green, a glaze closely resembling that used by French potters, Dalpayrat in particular.
