The unglazed exterior of this vase reveals the delicacy of its relief decoration in the theme of the tomato. The squat, lobed shape replicates that of the fruit itself and features carefully articulated low-relief vines and fruit around the upper part. As was common with some of Tiffany's ceramics, the form duplicates one produced by his studios in enamel on copper.
