In the midst of a traffic jam, a young boy makes his way through the congested streets,
hawking the daily news. The scene is defined by dramatic contrasts. The boy is small,
scrappy, and mobile; the cars are big, fancy, and stalled. The boy is surrounded by the
towering skyscrapers, while far above him the sky is open and light. The force of the
newsboy’s raised arm and his determined face suggest a successful future for the entrepreneur
who confronts the economic and social obstacles.
