Themes in Byzantine Art

Always admired and imitated, Byzantine art not only set surpassing standards for craftsmanship but it also reflected the splendor and prestige of its court and church, which were often intertwined in Byzantine society and culture.

This "glory" of the Byzantium was not confined within political boundaries of the Byzantine Empire but had far-reaching political and cultural influences in all directions.
