Hassam’s Coast Scene, Isles of Shoals was given to the Metropolitan Museum in 1909. After Mary Cassatt and John Singer Sargent (Americans who painted in Europe), Hassam is the American Impressionist with the most paintings, drawings, and prints in the Met's collection.
