Lead Cloud
| This work, like others Kiefer made in 1985 using black-and-white photographs, incorporates molten lead in a cloudlike form. "Heavy Cloud" describes Kiefer's use of this heavy material to depict something vaporous and nearly weightless. The title puns on "heavy water," which Kiefer regards as a synonym for radiation. |
