'Grand Asian Museum within the Museum'

Completed after Three Decades

22 Korean National Treasures Among 100 Works on Loan for Inaugural Exhibition

The first permanent gallery dedicated to the display of the arts of Korea at The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened to the public on June 9, signaling the successful completion of an ambitious 30-year plan for the establishment of major new galleries of Asian art and the enrichment of the Museum’s Asian collections.  The Arts of Korea Gallery will display, on a rotating and often thematic basis, the Metropolitan’s collection of Korean painting, ceramics, sculpture, metalwork, and lacquerware spanning 1,500 years.

Designed to convey the distinctive character of Korean culture
