Meryre-ha-ishetef Standing. Sedment; Sixth Dynasty (ca. 23232150 B.C.E.). Painted ebony; H. 20 1/8 in. (51 cm). Trustees of the British Museum, London (EA 55722).

Sedment is a cemetery south of the Faiyum. Three statues of Meryre-ha-ishetef were found in his tomb, all of wood and all showing him nude. This beautiful ebony figure is the smallest and shows him as a fresh and graceful young man.
