By the beginning of Dynasty 1, Egypt is unified under the rule of one pharaoh (mythical name: Menes; historical figures: Narmer and Aha). The capital is at Memphis; mud-brick burial monuments of kings established at Abydos; and large tombs of officials located at Saqqara. Great amounts of goods imported from Canaan. Trade relations exist between Egypt and Nubia A-group culture, although military raids into Nubia also took place.
