A plantoir is a trowel, or small hand tool used for planting. If you have a garden you might even have one. Take a look at this illustration of an average-size adult standing with a child next to Plantoir. As you can see, the sculpture is quite large. In their works of art, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen transform everyday objects to create large-scale sculptures.
