"Cleopatra's Needle"
Obelisk built in 1443 B.C. Presented to the City of New York by Khedive of Egypt in 1879, and erected in Central Park on January 5, 1881. Pink granite; 69 ft. x 8 ft.

Central Park, where the Museum is located, contains many sculptures. This is an obelisk, known as "Cleopatra’s Needle," brought here from Egypt. It stands right outside the Museum and you can see it from the Roof Garden.
