he term "apocalypse" comes from the Greek apokalupsis, meaning "revelation." In the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, John presents his vision of a future in which God banishes worldly evil and ushers in a perfect age. Dürer's series of fifteen woodcuts vividly brings these prophetic revelations to life.
