Video clip of technique
Referring to the cartoon underneath, she isolates a small section of the warp with her hand to raise the shed even further and inserts a bobbin wound with weft yarn. The bobbins are thin and tapered to allow for easy passage through this small opening, and the weaver unwinds the yarn from the bobbin into the shed. She arcs or bubbles the weft yarn rather than putting it straight through the shed, perpendicular to the warp threads, as this would cause them to pull together too closely. Instead, she uses a tapestry fork or comb to beat the weft into place, keeping an even tension as she works.
