The Cloisters

The Cloisters—the branch of the Metropolitan devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe—exhibits approximately 5,000 works of art from medieval Europe, dating from about A.D. 800 through the 15th century. The building itself incorporates elements from five medieval French cloisters and from other monastic sites in southern France. This screen saver illuminates twelve exquisite highlights from the Museum's collection.
