The Cloisters Under Construction

This film, compiled in 1941, features footage of The Cloisters during its construction between 1935 and 1938. The Cloisters, a branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to medieval art, is located in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan and incorporates architectural elements from twelfth to fifteenth-century Europe.

May 2013 through May 2014 marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of The Cloisters.
