Curran was a student at the Académie Julian from 1888 to 1890. This detailed account shows Parisians enjoying the modern city parks, with their gravel paths, pruned trees, fountains, and sculpture. Curran captured the blending of art and daily life that was so typical of Paris, including here Auguste-Nicolas Cain's regal sculpture of a lion (1870).
