The "Leonardo da Vinci, Master Draftsman" Audio Guide is narrated by Museum director Philippe de Montebello and includes extensive commentary by Carmen Bambach, curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints, and curator of the exhibition. The tour also includes a rich variety of perspectiveswith commentaries by George Goldner, Drue Heinz Chairman of the Department of Drawings and Prints; Marjorie Shelley, Sherman Fairchild Conservator in Charge of the Sherman Fairchild Center for Works on Paper and Photograph Conservation; and George Bisacca, conservator in the Department of Paintings Conservation, all of the Metropolitan Museum. Additional insights are provided by Leonardo da Vinci scholar Martin Kemp, professor of the History of Art at the University of Oxford, England.
Visitors can hear the music of the lyra da braccio, the instrument Leonardo taught himself to play and performed with at the court of one of his patrons, Ludovico Sforza. A lively Family Audio Guide also accompanies this exhibition. It is designed in conjunction with the student guide.
The Audio Guide is available free of charge to New York City High School students thanks to a grant from the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation.
