Richard Avedon: Portraits Back to images from this exhibition Richard Avedon has created many of the iconic images of our time. He first made his name in the late 1940s in the pages of Harper's Bazaar, where his fresh and imaginative vision revised the standards for fashion photography. These images were the subject of "Avedon: Photographs, 1947–1977" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1978.
