This is a graphical representation in two-dimensional space of the elemental fingerprints for more than 2,100 samples in the Limestone Sculpture Provenance Project database. The values for the horizontal and vertical axes were derived from Principal Components Analysis of 19 elements* measured in the limestone. While the plot shown above displays only 2 of these 19 Principal Components, assignment of group membership is based on all 19.
Select one or more of the sculptures above to show its location on the chart. The cluster analysis represents the relationship of each sculpture's chemical profile to the distinct chemical profiles of the Notre-Dame Reference Group (green) or the Amiens Reference Group (blue).
