William® Beaded Youth T-Shirt

	The design on our t-shirt is adapted from an Egyptian faience hippopotamus that dates from Dynasty 12, ca. 1981–1885 B.C. found in a tomb of the steward Senbi at Meir. It is one of the finest, as well as the largest, of Middle Kingdom hippopotamus figures. Since its arrival at the Museum in 1917 the sculpture has been a favorite with visitors, and for many years has been known as "William"—the Metropolitan's unofficial mascot. The decoration suggests the hippo's Nile habitat. 100% imported cotton. Available in youth medium or large.
