Sale - Chinese Jade Bi Pendant

	Bi—or perforated circular disks—were important ceremonial objects in ancient Chinese culture. The specific function and meaning of these disks is unknown, but as late as the Han dynasty (206 B.C.–A.D. 220), jade disks served a ritual function in aristocratic burials, often placed on the chest and above and below the head and feet of the deceased. In the 2nd century, bi were often decorated with dragons, representing movement from the earthly to the celestial realm. Hand-carved jade, with a carnelian bead.
