This watch is adapted from an original 19th-century French design, part of a category of jewelry known as "bijoux sportifs." Consisting of simple shapes and fluid lines in matte finish, bijoux sportifs could be worn in more casual circumstances than in the jealously guarded, formal occasions of the aristocracy. Produced in cooperation with the Musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris.

14K gold plate. With Japanese movement. Length 7 1/2 in., width 1 1/4 in.
