The 18th-century French technique of guilloché enameling, in which a design is engine-turned on metal and then covered with translucent, colorful enamels, was revived in the early 20th century. Our Guilloché Frame is adapted from a clock in the shape of a table designed by Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846–1920), jeweler to the last two czars of the Romanov dynasty. Combining exquisite guilloché enameling with precious metals and stones, Fabergé brought the art form to the very height of luxury, making it one of the decorative techniques most favored by the elite of Edwardian society. Produced in cooperation with the Hillwood Museum and Gardens, Washington, D.C. Made expressly for the Metropolitan Museum in the United States.

24K gold-plated pewter, with enamel and glass pearls. Diameter 3 in. Holds a 2 in. diameter photo. Available in ivory only.
