Unfold our accordion-style card to reveal four sparkling snowflakes adapted from Snow Flakes, a stunning collection of more than 2,400 images by Wilson A. Bentley (American, 1865–1931). A self-educated farmer, Bentley is best known for his pioneering study of snowflakes using photomicrography. By combining a microscope and a camera, Bentley became the first person to photograph a single snow crystal, or snowflake, in 1885. He also popularized the notion that "no two snowflakes are alike."
