In 1924 Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) founded her own pewter workshop, Svenskt Tenn (Swedish Pewter), in Stockholm. Her mission was to revive the traditional pewter crafts of her native country. Preserving the beauty and integrity of pewter's unique matte sheen in her graceful mirrors, frames, candlesticks, vases, and other objects, Ericson's spare yet elegant designs gained worldwide acclaim, making her an influential arbiter of taste and a champion of Swedish modernism. Through Ericson's remarkably diverse talents, Svenskt Tenn expanded into a fashionable home furnishings shop and interior design firm, serving an elite clientele. The simple, yet stunning design of our necklace is a reproduction of Ericson's own recreation of an Etruscan bronze necklace (about 100 B.C.–100 A.D.) she bought in Rome. Produced in cooperation with the decorative arts boutique Svenskt Tenn, Stockholm.
