Double-Entwined Hearts Earrings

The original design for these earrings—made of a union of two elegant hearts—was created by one of the major Parisian jewelers of the nineteenth century. French jewelry design of the period represented a wide range of styles, but small pieces known as bijoux sportifs (sports jewelry), which were based on amusing figurative themes or sentimental subjects, were particularly popular. The designer of the double-entwined hearts motif on which the Museum's earrings are based is thought to have worked for the House of Robin, Félix Duval, or Falize.

14K yellow and white gold. Length 3/8 in., width 1/2 in. Pierced, with 14K gold posts.
