In connection with the exhibition "Treasury of the World: Jeweled Arts of India in the Age of the Mughals," the Metropolitan Museum collaborated with The Gem Palace in Jaipur—jewelry suppliers to India's royal families for more than seven generations—to produce handcrafted traditional and modern pieces that reflect the brilliant artistic achievements of the Mughal period in India (1526–1858) and represent a unique fusion of ancient techniques with a contemporary aesthetic.

Emerald drops border this exquisite necklace of traditional flower patterns, kundan set (using foil-backing, which intensifies the brilliance of the stones) with diamonds and rubies. The woven silver and silk thread closures end in pearls and emerald bead tassels. The reverse side is enameled in finely-drawn Mughal designs. Adjustable length up to 29 in., diameter 9 1/2 in., pendant length 2 in.
