Ancient Civilizations DVD Set
Ancient Civilizations DVD Set

This series features the work of archaeologists, historians, and video experts coming together to create a memorable panoramic review of the rulers and daily life in ancient civilizations throughout the world. This set is comprised of six DVDs, each portraying a certain aspect of a civilization. Beginning with Rome and Pompeii, viewers will learn about the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus, as well as the Roman persecution of early Christians. The next program examines Athens and Ancient Greece using computer graphics, archival film, and classic art to recreate the places and events of this extraordinary culture. A program on Ancient Egypt takes viewers back 5,000 years to the world of the pharaohs and the pyramids. The Aztec and Mayan empires are included in a program featuring reenactments and computer reconstructions of cities, temples, and tombs from 1,000 years ago. The Gladiators of Ancient Rome are examined exclusively in a program that shows modern-day reenactments, movie clips, detailed still footage, and a computer-generated tour through the Colosseum. The final DVD features an Egyptian perspective of Cleopatra and her life, showing the legendary ruler as a brilliant strategist and strong leader. Filled with bonus materials and extra features such as interactive menus, biographies, timelines, and supplementary programs, this series is as educational as it is entertaining, and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Approximately 9 1/2 hours.
