New - Guilloché Enamel Reed and Ribbon Ivory Cheese Knives
Guilloché Enamel Reed and Ribbon Ivory Cheese Knives

The design on our cheese knives is adapted from an elegant silver-gilt frame ca. 1886–96 from the workshop of Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846–1920), jeweler to the last two czars of the Romanov dynasty. Fabergé emphasized creativity and workmanship in making his intricate objets d'art, which included magnificent jewelry, clocks, enamel cigarette cases, boxes, and frames. Fabergé was one of the greatest masters of guilloché enameling, a time-intensive technique in which polychrome enamel is layered over circular, straight, or wave patterns engraved on metal. Combining exquisite guilloché enameling with precious metals and stones, Fabergé brought the art form to the very height of luxury, making it one of the decorative techniques most favored by the elite of Edwardian society. Produced in cooperation with the Hillwood Museum and Gardens, Washington, D.C. Made expressly for the Metropolitan Museum in the United States.

Stainless steel and pewter with silver plate and enameled guilloché. Not for use in microwave and dishwasher. Set of 2; 1 knife and 1 shaver. Packaged in a gold gift box with an acetate lid.
Knife length 8 1/2 in.
Shaver length 9 3/8 in.
