Our panel is a reproduction of a 16th-century map that appeared in the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Theater of the World), a collection of 53 maps of the most renowned geographers of the period, published in 1570. Cartographer and geographer Abraham Ortelius (Flemish, 1527–1598) created this important work, which marked the first time all of the elements of the modern atlas were brought together for publication. Produced in cooperation with The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, California.

Mounted on a wood panel. 24 in. x 34 1/2 in. Includes hanging hardware.
